hey folks. after Friday night's Coney Island ride, by beloved PX shut down & she ain't starting. so Drue and I pulled out the spark plug (which looked fine), tested it.. and found no spark. put in another one, tested it.. still no spark. which we suppose means there is an issue with the coil or one of the various bits and pieces connecting the coil to the plug, like the HT header.. which also looks fine. nothing is disconnected or corroded that we can see.. but then, we don't really know what we're doing, so who knows

any of you know how one goes about testing a coil? or otherwise troubleshooting said problem..?

cheers in advance, dear friends..

Heather

PS thanks again to all for not giving me shit about riding a motorcycle to a scooter rally

First thing to check is that the kill switch isn't shorting out. Remove the switch cover and pull off the green wire going to the kill switch and see if you get spark.

so, an update for the benefit of anyone else with this problem:

Drue and I couldn't figure it out, after testing the coil, the kill switch, the fuses, the battery, and the pickup (via the wires coming off the stator). With some 3rd party help, it was determined to be the pickup after all (cheers, Robbie)..

How was it determined to be the pickup? Some other way than via the wires coming off the stator?

I believe he just looked at it, determined it was bad, replaced it, and voila.. not sure what the tell-tale sign was.. perhaps corrosion..
